The name MONABBEY is deeply personal. It  combines "MON", from my mother, Monique, and  "ABBEY", from my husband's mother, Abiodun.  Together, they represent the foundation of the  brand: family, culture, and legacy. 

With a single Singer sewing machine, I began  creating handmade jewellery and accessories  using Ankara fabric, wood, and resin. Every piece  was crafted by hand in my small apartment, driven by a passion for African creativity and  timeless design. 

Life then took me on a different journey. As I  embraced motherhood and welcomed my  children, I stepped away from my business and  built a career as an interpreter with an  international organisation. Although MONABBEY  was quiet for a time, the dream never  disappeared. It simply waited for the right  season. 

In 2024, I returned to my first love and  reintroduced MONABBEY in Lagos, Nigeria, this  time with a renewed vision: creating beautifully  crafted clothing for children that celebrates  African heritage through modern, elegant design. As the brand grew, I encountered the challenges  many fashion entrepreneurs know well. Working  with different garment factories often meant  compromising on quality, consistency, and the  standards I wanted for my customers. Rather 

than accepting those limitations, I made a life changing decision. 

In 2026, I established MONABBEY's own  garment production factory in Shomolu, Lagos. Building our own production facility was about  more than manufacturing garments. It was  about creating a home for craftsmanship,  maintaining uncompromising quality, supporting  skilled artisans, and ensuring that every  MONABBEY piece reflects the care, precision,  and excellence our customers deserve. Today, MONABBEY is more than a fashion  brand. It is the story of resilience, motherhood,  heritage, and believing in a dream through every  season of life. 

From a small apartment in Athens to our own  production factory in Lagos, every stitch tells the  story of where we began and where we are  going.
